Language exchange options

Being in Madrid is all fun and games, but returning to the United States with a great grasp of the language takes more than class. Below are some fun and engaging options to practice your language skills and grow your social circle.

Citylife has free events weekly LINK
These events are held right downtown at a bar, they are quite social. If you are a little overwhelmed by putting yourself out there, go with a friend! Location: Calle 365 – Calle Echegaray 18

Free Meetups organizes nice conversation groups exchange for all international people in Madrid. They choose English – Spanish speaking bars with friendly waiters and nice prices. Once you arrive at the bar you will be well received by our “open language exchange & intercambio de idiomas” Hostess. The hostess is going to explain how the dynamic will be and introduce you to the other participants. LINK

Would you rather not meet up at a bar or in a large group. Tandem is a great way to find a conversation partner. Create an account and find a match to go to a cafe, park, or walk. These exchanges allow you to practice your Spanish as well as help your partner with their English. LINK

Welcome to Madrid

Hello and Welcome!

We are so thrilled to begin another fall semester here in Madrid and cannot wait to show you how incredible this city really is. Through your classes, you will learn about the culture and history of Spain. Through your tours and travels, you will experience it firsthand. And hopefully, through this Blog you will be provided options to deepen your immersion, engage with locals, and expand your areas of interest.

We know that your schedules are packed, but you will only be here for one term and we advise you to make the very most of this city while you are here. Traveling throughout Europe is a luxury, but really getting to know a city, Madrid specifically, will make this time even more memorable.

This blog will be a way for us to share some of the exciting things that we think you might enjoy in the city. We will provide weekly updates and options for art, culture, music, food, etc. If you follow any of our suggestions, do not hesitate to share a photo or any reaction to the experience by commenting on a post. We would love to hear how it was!

Please also take the time to look through some of our posts from the last year as much of the information remains relevant!

See you soon!
