Melendi - September 23 at Festvial Jardín de las Delicias (Madrid), September 23 | Events in Madrid | AllEvents.in

Get ready for an epic weekend of music and entertainment in the heart of Madrid! On 23 and 24 September, the Cantarranas Campus of the Complutense University will be transformed into the perfect setting to host the fourth edition of the acclaimed Jardín de las Delicias festival . This time, under the exciting slogan “The magic of the sun”, the festival promises to exceed all expectations.

The event is packed with original activities ranging from visual spectacles and performances to happenings, all designed to offer the public a unique experience. But that's not all! The gastronomic experience will also take center stage, with a careful and varied selection of dishes that will satisfy even the most demanding palate.

Undoubtedly, the most eagerly awaited feature will be the spectacular line-up of confirmed artists. Vetusta Morla, a true benchmark of contemporary indie rock, will head the bill. Their repertoire, which will include hits such as “La Deriva”, “Copenhague”, “23 de Junio” and “Finisterre”, promises to light up the atmosphere with their energetic music.

Dorian, on the other hand, will present their unmistakable mix of new wave, electronic music and indie rock, performing hits such as “Anywhere Else”, “The Sand Storm” and “Artificial Paradises”, as well as presenting their latest album “ Ritual".

Feel like expanding your social circle?

If you want to take “fun” one-off create workshops, you can find lots of different options on Facebook, Airbnb Experiences, or on Viator . Two other common sites are Meetup and EventBrite . Both of these sites list a ton of activities that are offered online or in-person. In Madrid, great places to take classes are Mad's Cool (candle & soap-making) and Soho Art Madrid (sip & paint).

Spend some time looking at what's out there - you could find the perfect beginner's yoga class, a personal development workshop, or a drawing class. So sign-up, smile, be genuinely interested in people's stories. And if you connect with anyone, suggest hanging out for tapas. There are many expats in Spain looking for company, too, as they explore their new home.

Volunteer Opportunities!

Giving back to the community can be incredibly rewarding, and is very possible here in Madrid. Volunteering can help you relate to the city and the people in it as well as help you work on your Spanish and provide an altruistic outlet outside of class.

Some opportunities can be done in English, others will challenge your language skills and greatly enhance your learning.

HACESFALTA - this is a search engine for many different non-profits around the Madrid area.

T-oigo - helping students with learning and speaking abilities, supporting bilingualism through games, songs and crafts

BOKATA - Being a volunteer is BEING Bokatas. It is giving part of your time to accompany people who are homeless or socially excluded. It is sharing stories, it is changing the situation of injustice in which more than 40,000 people in Spain live... Being a Bokatas volunteer is broadening your vision of life, being a volunteer is many more things that cannot be understood, that can only be experienced

INTERNATIONALS - For occasional participation as and when you can

St George's Guild Library
- Located in the grounds of St George's Anglican Church on Calle Núñez de Balboa 43, this lovely library with an eclectic mix of English language titles is open every Wednesday from 11-13 :30h and on Sunday mornings too. Two Tuesdays a month it also opens to coincide with the talks offered by the Guild and the British Ladies Association. They are keen to hear from willing volunteers who would like to help out. Contact guildlibraryteam@gmail.com for more information.

Volunteer through the Community of Madrid

United Way - send a request to jump on a project

Madrina- a foundation focused on women's issues and social risks. There are many different opportunities here to get involved.

If you know of any other accessible options or have experiences to share please comment below and help the American University community to gain social awareness, experience, and help give back to the community that is so warmly welcoming to you all!
