October - first week events and activities

Happy First week of October and welcome to spooky month! Madrid is amazing in the fall and October is full of fun events and culture.

Madrid's Circulos de Bellas Artes is open Tuesday to Sunday and is an all in one experience.  

The 5 euro ticket (4 if you have your student card), allows access to the art exhibition of Pilar Aymerich. 

It is the first retrospective of one of the fundamental authors of Spanish photography, awarded in 2021 with the National Photography Prize.  Pilar Aymerich (Barcelona, ​​1943) began her professional career in photography at the end of the 60s, within the framework of late Francoism and the Transition. Her camera will witness demonstrations, strikes, celebrations and social movements, always from a social, humanist and feminist conscience. Her photographs have been characterised since their beginnings by having a powerful narrative character. Her work represents a deconstruction of the strategy of photo-reportage or modern photojournalism. The images arise from the knowledge of a given situation, from the familiarity that she has patiently built with the environment and from the personal relationships that she has established.

ALSO - your ticket allows you access to the beautiful rooftop terrace from which there are spectacular views of the city and a lovely bar/restaurant.

Dog Lovers? Sunday October 8 the PERROTON is happening 

Perrotón España is the Solidarity Race* for the Adoption and Responsible Ownership of Pet Animals and against Animal Abandonment and Abuse, at the initiative of Abott Producciones.

During these last eleven years, Perrotón España has established itself as the most important dog lover event held in Spain and Europe to enjoy with the family in favor of adoption and responsible ownership, always counting on the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of thousands of pet lovers, coming from all over Spain and other parts of the world.

It is too late to register - but not too late to watch and cheer for the thousands of dogs and humans running/walking the race this year.

Ready to experience your first Flamenco show? This week there are three shows - The Origen - that push the limits of tradition and will open up the world of Flamenco to anyone who attends. 

From 03 to 5 October 2023

Schedule:

1st Session:Doors open 6:30 pm.
Show from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

2nd Session :Doors open 9:00 pm.
Show from 9:30 pm. to 10:30 pm

Fans of rock will be thrilled with this week's music selection. The Rock Circus is in town and very accessible (Feria de Madrid metro stop).  

A show that will make you vibrate, raise your voice and remember that art is immortal and life
without art is not an option. The greatest tribute to art and to all those who believe that they would not be the same if art did not exist.

ROCK CIRCUS VOL.2 brings together a total of 50 artists and 10 dancers under a wild staging . An incredible rock and roll band of 18 musicians will give life to 40 musical songs by iconic groups and artists, such as Kiss, Metallica, Miguel Ríos, Iron Maiden, Guns N'Roses, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Tequila , Queen, David Bowie, Rosendo and many more, who will accompany the most extreme circus acts from all over the world.

Last year Cristina Maria opened a really interesting exhibition on street art. Last week they opened it back up to the public ! 

The foundation is right down town, free and around the corner from great bars and restaurants. A perfect location for a little art and a little culture.
